What is Roast?

Roast is a dual-mode feedback widget for SaaS products. Praise Mode collects star ratings and video or text testimonials for a public Wall of Love; Roast Mode collects gamified critical feedback, graded from lukewarm to nuclear, that you can turn into issues in your tracker.
How do paid feedback bounties work?

You pre-fund an escrow pool and set a cash reward for a widget. When a visitor leaves critical feedback (a "roast") that meets your bounty criteria and you approve the payout, the reward is released to them via Stripe. Bounties only ever apply to roasts, never to praise.
Why can't I pay for positive testimonials?

By design, Roast never pays for praise: bounties are restricted to critical feedback only. Paying users for positive reviews or testimonials risks falling foul of consumer-protection rules, including the UK's Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act, which prohibits incentivised fake or biased reviews.
How do I add the widget to my site?

Create a widget in your dashboard's Embed Code page, then copy the single script tag it gives you (it carries your widget's ID) and paste it before your site's closing </body> tag. The feedback button appears automatically using that widget's configured settings.
Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free Spark plan lets you run one widget and collect a limited number of submissions a month with text feedback. Paid plans add video and screen recording, AI-powered analysis, unlimited submissions and white-labelling.
What is the difference between Praise Mode and Roast Mode?

Both live in the same widget. Praise Mode is for positive feedback that can be published to your Wall of Love once approved. Roast Mode is for critical feedback with a Heat Slider and is always kept private, for your team only. It can be pushed to an issue tracker or, if a bounty is running, rewarded with a cash payout.
